Our client is looking for a Directory of Information Systems and Technology (IT&S) to lead a world-class IT&S team in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of communication services, databases, networks, and telecom systems used to run an international business. Position includes managing a world-class team, recruiting new staff, and setting policies and strategies to achieve business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Lead the IS&T department?s operational and strategic planning, including designing for multi-data center redundancy, active-active and active-standby systems, data protection, and a highly secured communication infrastructure.
  • Set multi-year process and system improvement plans that ensure long-term business security, performance, and growth.
  • Contribute information and recommendations to annual strategic business plans and budgets.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.

Implementation & Monitoring

  • Direct the IS&T team through the implementation of new hardware, networking, and telecom systems.
  • Demonstrate excellence in change management and system controls that enable confident upgrades and expansion.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement all IT Operations? policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Develop requests for proposals.

Operational Management

  • Determine IT Operations? service requirements and priorities by analyzing the needs of users/departments.
  • Develop and implement documentation systems for all components of architecture.
  • Achieve IT Operations? operational objectives by maintaining and supporting current systems; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems.
  • Evaluate, recommend, test and install new technology.
  • Prepare and implement corrective action plans that address failures in systems or networks.
  • Direct research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization?s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT Operations activities.
  • Some travel is required.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:

BS/MS in Information Systems or related field.

15+ years of IS&T leadership experience.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of virtual server systems, telecom networks, IP communications, SANs, and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience setting up data centers, call centers, and operations centers is required.
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to make complex technical and vendor tradeoffs producing top business value.
  • History of negotiating large contracts for best possible terms.

Specific Experience (in these areas is a plus)

  • Server Virtualization using VMware products.
  • HP and Cisco UCS Server hardware.
  • Hitachi VSP and EMC Symmetrix SAN systems.
  • Routing, switching, and security using Cisco products.
  • H.323 and SIP communications.
  • Microsoft SQL Server.

Communications/Language Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.

Ability to Manage (if applicable):

  • History of managing teams of 40 engineers or larger.
  • Accomplish IS&T objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Communicate job expectations; and planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.
