Area college football report for Sept. 29

MIAMI 56, AKRON 49? Zac Dysert threw a school record 6 touchdown passes, had 624 total yards and the Miami (Ohio) defense grabbed the only turnover of the game in the final play to seal a wild win. Dysert handed off to Justin Semmes for the game-winner for the RedHawks (3-2, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) ? a 3-yard TD run with 1:04 remaining.

But the Zips (1-4, 0-1) got the ball back one final time, moving to the Miami 38-yard line to set up one final heave. Zips quarterback Dalton Williams tossed it toward the end zone, where Brison Burris intercepted.

KENT STATE 45, BALL STATE 43? Kent State?s Freddy Cortez kicked the winning 25-yard field goal with 6 seconds left in the game to lift Kent State to 45-43 victory against Ball State.

Spencer Keith passed for 295 yards and three touchdowns for Kent State (3-1, 2-0 Mid-American Conference), two of them to Dri Archer, who also returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. He caught only three passes, but they totaled 104 yards.

MALONE 33, TIFFIN 27 (2OT)? Malik Felton scored on a 12-yard run in the second overtime Saturday night at Fawcett Stadium to lift the Pioneers to their first win of the season and their first-ever victory in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Malone, which got the ball second in the second overtime, blocked Seth Pekoe?s 35-yard field goal attempt. Pekoe kicked a 34-yarder with :06 left in the game that sent it to overtime.

Both teams kicked field goals in the first overtime.

Felton led the Pioneers? offense with 168 yards of total offense ? 140 on the ground ? and three touchdowns.

Malone quarterbacks Truman Franklin and Will Szpor combined to complete 16 of 25 passes for 190 yards and two TDs. Franklin threw both TDs.

Justin McLean caught four passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. AT Turner caught five passes for 66 yards for Malone (1-3, 1-3).

OHIO DOMINICAN 24, WALSH 13? Quarterback Mark Miller had a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown for Ohio Dominican as Walsh fell on the road and remained winless in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Miller was 18-of-21 passing for 240 yards and an interception. Miller carried nine times for 63 yards.

Walsh wide receiver Anthony Schrock, who caught a 71-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Dawson, finished with 187 yards on seven catches.

Dawson also threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Darryl Gary. Both of Dawson?s touchdown passes came in the third quarter. Gary had two catches for 74 yards.

The second touchdown brought Walsh to within 4, but Miller?s touchdown run with 11:14 remaining in the fourth quarter put the game away for Ohio Dominican.
