Friday's local baseball roundup: Pilots break away for four in 10th, beat Petersburg

UNC Greensboro's Zac MacAneney hit a go-ahead two-run triple in the 10th inning, sparking the Peninsula Pilots to a 7-3 road victory over the Petersburg Generals.

The Pilots added two more runs and held on to improve to 10-11-1. The Generals fell to 10-11.

Liberty's Danny Grauer was 2-for-3 and scored three runs for the Pilots. Mount Olive's Geno Escalante batted 3-for-4.

Seminole State's Michael Bonner pitched 2 1/3 innings for the victory.

Norfollk 5, Toledo 1

Xavier Avery was 3-for-5 with a home run and scored three times as the Norfolk Tides (36-40) beat host Toledo in an International League series opener.

Chris Tillman struck out eight in 5 1/3 scoreless innings for the win.

New Britain 9, Richmond 8

Evan Bigley was 4-for-5 with three RBI as the Rock Cats, Minnesota's Double-A affiliate, edged the Flying Squirrels at The Diamond.

Daniel Mayora drove in three runs for the Flying Squirrels.
