Book Review: Taste of Home: Best Loved Recipes - Blogcritics Tastes

The Taste of Home: Best Loved Recipes cookbook brings back memories for me. ?When I first began looking for different recipes to cook for my family, I subscribed to Taste of Home and used to spend hours looking through them and admiring the pictures of all the dishes people made. ?I saved those magazines for years and I cannot tell you how many times I read and re-read them. ?The recipes are classics that my family has always enjoyed. If you've enjoyed Taste of Home, there is a new cookbook out that combines 1,485 favorites from the magazine.

Taste of Home: Best Loved Recipes is a new collection of the most cherished recipes from Taste of Home magazine. ?These recipes are organized into 26 different chapters that cover everything from appetizers and beverages to entrees, sides, breads, and desserts. You will find all of your favorite comfort foods, potluck and bake sale favorites, and family recipes, and special features that highlight Grand Prize Contest winners, Favorite Contributor Meals, and the Top 100 Recipes from Taste of Home's first 20 years.

The same format that you enjoy in the Taste of Home magazines is carried over into this cookbook. ?The recipes use easy-to-find, everyday ingredients that won't take you hours to find in the grocery store. There are step by step instructions including times for prep and cooking. ?This is a huge help to busy parents who need to get dinner on the table fast and don't want to select a recipe that takes hours to prepare and cook. There are also many of helpful cooking tips scattered throughout the chapters. ?I cannot tell how many times these recipes came in handy when I was a less experienced cook. ?Of course, just like Taste of Home magazine, the book is loaded with gorgeous color photographs (400 of them) of many of the recipes. The recipes also include the contributor's name, city, state, and the year that it appeared in the Taste of Home magazine.

The selection of recipes included is fantastic. ?There are kid-pleasing recipes like the Chocolate Caramel Thumbrints and the Creamed Chicken Over Biscuits. You'll also find recipes that would work well for entertaining, like the Three Meat Stromboli or the Grilled Tilapia with Pineapple Salsa. ?There's even a whole section full of recipes for a variety of holidays to make holiday meal preparation easier. ?No matter what you're looking for, you'll find it in Taste of Home: Best Loved Recipes: 1485 Favorites from the World's #1 Food & Entertaining Magazine.
