Paola (7) lives in Mexico with her family of 6, in a home in need of improvements. As the family have nowhere to store their?perishable vegetables, Aura?s House aims to raise funds to help purchase plastic containers for food storage.? Paola?s home, also, has a hole in the brick wall to their bedroom, which is the only source of natural light.? Aura?s House would like to install a glass window in the space to preserve the light.? The family has asked for a metal cabinet for storing dishes and kitchen items to control the flies and to keep all food related items properly stored.? The family?s current ?kitchen?, which you can see in one of the gallery photos below consists of only a propane stove.? We raised an additional $212.43 to purchase a fold-out sofa bed that could be placed in the family?s spare room.? This room previously was unusable due to water leakage, but if the roof is being repaired, our hope is that it can be utilized as extra living space.? Currently, there are six people sleeping in one very small bedroom, and as the children grow, the room will become more and more crowded.? We aimed to raise $800 in total for a refrigerator, plastic containers for food storage, hygienic products, window installation, a metal cabinet and a fold-out sofa. ? All projects on the Aura?s House site are 100% US tax deductible.
Stay tuned for updates and photos.

Paola is sponsored by a group coordinated by Mckenzie Fritch.
Mckenzie writes:
?Way back in June of 2009, when LiftOne was barely a glint in Children International?s eye, Super Sponsors (Sponsors who are actively involved in the lives of their children, almost to the point of obsession) were limited to communicating with each other and the administration through a simple Google Group. There were no fancy bells and whistles there.
One day that summer, a group member?s heart was touched by a Children International blog post about a little girl in Guadalajara, Mexico whose family was surviving in the deepest depths of poverty. This sponsor couldn?t take on another child herself, but she approached her friends on CI?s Google Group, asking ?Why can?t we ALL sponsor her together and pool our resources to give this little girl a better life?? and thus, was the beginning of Children International Sponsorship Groups.
Paola was only four years old when she joined CI?s program, but over the past 3+ years her revolving collection of sponsors have worked hard to make life more livable for her and her mother, 2 sisters, and extended family members. Paola has benefited from two sponsor visits since she joined CI, and the positive effects that the program and sponsorship have had on her life are abundantly evident. However, despite the many improvements made to her home, a sponsor visit in February of this year confirmed that there are still multiple health risks threatening Paola and her two sisters. The focus of this fundraiser is to assist the family with proper food storage and safety, to wage war on the insects that fill their home, and to brighten their lives with a window and and useful furniture ? small things that most families take for granted.
I want to thank Paola?s dedicated team of sponsors who have worked so hard to help make her world a happier place, and I especially want to thank all of you who have so generously donated to her fundraiser.? Seeing this sweet little girl smile is truly magical, so let?s make it happen!?
