Leading productivity management software provider MySammy released a new infographic entitled "All About Cyberloafing", which gives an inside look at how employees are spending their time online when they are on the clock. Based on the definition supplied by Techopedia, Cyberloafing is a term used to describe the actions of employees who use their Internet access at work for personal use while pretending to do legitimate work. The infographic can be found at?http://www.mysammy.com/cyberloafing-personal-internet-use-at-work-infographic.
The infographic was created to show employers how their employees' productivity could be negatively affected through wasting time on the Internet.? Some of the most surprising facts:
- Employees often spend up to 56 percent of their time online doing non-work related activities like shopping, online gambling and social networking.?
- Only 48 percent of companies use website blocking/employer productivity programs.
- Cyberloafing costs employers?$4,500?per year, per employee.
In addition, the matter is further complicated by the fact that more and more people use their smart phones at work. The mix of business and personal use with smart phones make it very difficult for employers to measure employees work hours.
"Cyberloafing is just the tip of the iceberg. Without proper tools in place, employee productivity is a vague assessment process. Using programs like MySammy gives employers quantifiable results," said MySammy President?Edward Kwang. "We put together this infographic to show employers exactly what their employees are doing, and unfortunately a lot of the time it isn't work."
