Dordt College welcomes new faculty and staff

As Dordt College welcomes many athletes back to campus this week and prepares to welcome other students back to campus starting next week, the college also welcomes several new faculty and staff members.

FACULTY
Tara Boer, instructor of social work. Boer received a B.S.W. from Dordt College and an M.S.W. from the University of South Florida. She has worked as a therapist at Family Solution Services in Orange City and ATLAS in Sioux Center, and as an adjunct in Dordt?s Social Work Department. Tara lives in Hull with her husband Scott.

Dr. Walker Reid Cosgrove, assistant professor of history. Cosgrove received a B.A. in history from Taylor University, an M.A. in church history from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in history from Saint Louis University. Walker and his wife Kirsten moved from Saint Louis, Missouri, where Cosgrove worked as an adjunct professor at Webster University and Saint Louis University.

Dr. Scott Culpepper, associate professor of history. Culpepper received a B.A. in history from Louisiana College, an M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, an M.A. in history from Northwestern State University, and a Ph.D. in religion from Baylor University. Scott recently taught in the Department of History and Political Science at Louisiana College. Scott and his wife Ginger moved from Pineville, Louisiana, with their children Micah, Josiah, and Hannah.

Dr. Robbin Eppinga, assistant professor of biology. Eppinga received a B.A. in biology health professions from Northwestern College in Orange City, a Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Iowa, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He and his wife Sara have four children, Sam, Emily, Elia, and Esther.

David Griffith, instructor of business administration. Griffith received a B.S. in pharmacy from The University of Texas and an M.B.A. from St. Mary's University. David is the founder of Sparkiting Solutions LLC, providing business consulting and training focused on sales and marketing since 2000. He also served as an adjunct for a Master?s level marketing course at the University of Texas. David and his wife Jennifer moved from San Antonio, Texas. They have four children, Hannah, James, Matthew, and Jonathan.

Rikki Heldt, instructor of language studies. Heldt received a B.A. in secondary education from Dordt College and an M.S.Ed. in educational leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University. She taught Spanish at Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Heldt and her husband Jeff have two sons, Aiden and Rowan.

John MacInnis, instructor of music. MacInnis received a B.Mus. in piano performance and an M.Mus. in sacred music (organ) from Bob Jones University. He is currently in the dissertation phase of his Ph.D. in musicology at Florida State University. He and his wife Vicky moved from Tallahassee, Florida, with their daughter Saydie.

Dr. Joshua Matthews, assistant professor of English. Matthews received his B.A. in English from Indiana University, his M.A. in English from Kent State University, and his Ph.D. in English from the University of Iowa this spring. He and his wife Cailan lived in Greeley, Colorado, where he taught at the University of Northern Colorado. They have three children, Elias, Gideon, and Calliope.

Dr. Mark McCarthy, associate professor of history. McCarthy received a B.A. in European history from Calvin College, a B.A. in Russian and an M.A. in Russian literature from the University of Iowa, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in European history from the University of Notre Dame. He and his wife Merrill moved from Asheville, North Carolina, where McCarthy taught in the History Department at Montreat College.

David Mulder, instructor of education. Mulder received his B.A. in elementary education and his M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Dordt College. He worked as the technology coordinator at Sioux Center Christian School and as an adjunct in Dordt?s Education Department. He and his wife Missy have two children, Ethan and Callie.

Joel Sikkema, instructor of engineering and construction management. Sikkema received a B.A. in business administration and a B.S. in engineering from Dordt College, and an M.S. in civil engineering from Iowa State University where he is currently working on a Ph.D. in civil engineering. He and his wife Krista have a daughter, Kaelyn.

Josiah Wallace, assistant professor of theatre arts. Wallace received a B.A. in theater arts from Seattle Pacific University and is completing an M.F.A. in directing at Baylor University. He has taught theater courses at both institutions and also worked as the director of outreach at Taproot Theatre Company in Seattle, Washington. He and his wife Bethany moved from Waco, Texas, with their two sons, Caleb and Samuel.

STAFF
Alisa Den Hartog, alumni and parent relations coordinator. Den Hartog received her B.A. from Dordt College. She worked as a graphic designer and administrative assistant at Timberwood Church in Nisswa, Minnesota. She and her husband Jamey have two daughters, Olivia and Ava.

Gabe Eliserio, assistant football coach, strength and conditioning coach, and instructor in the Health and Human Performance Department. Eliserio received his B.A. from Sterling College and his M.Ed. degree in secondary education and sports administration from East Central University in Oklahoma. He has worked at Dordt College as a special teams coordinator, defensive film editor, and southwestern recruiting representative. Gabe and his wife Dawn also serve as the alumni house caretakers. They have a daughter, Grace.

Adam Langvardt, assistant football coach, strength and conditioning coordinator, and instructor in the Health and Human Performance Department. He received his B.A. from Sterling College in Kansas, and has worked as an assistant coach at Malone University in Ohio. He moved here with his wife Jessica.

Jeremy Nederhoff, lab systems engineer. He received his B.S.E. from Dordt College in engineering with an electrical emphasis. While a student at Dordt, Jeremy served as a summer engineering intern for the college and held a variety of internships in Sioux Center industries. Prior to this position, he worked as a research assistant at Iowa State University.

Brenda Schaap, bookstore coordinator. Schaap received her B.A. in secondary education with an art education emphasis from Dordt College and her M.A. degree in the area of technology-based learning. She has worked as a teacher and librarian at Western Christian High School. She and her husband Glenn have two sons, Ryan and Ross.

Audrey Schuller, student accounts manager. Schuller graduated from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper in Boyden, a sales rep at K-Products, and most recently as the T.R.I.P. coordinator at Orange City Christian School. She and her husband Doug have two daughters, Tiffany and Katelyn.

Shar Tubergen, bookstore coordinator. Tubergen is a graduate from Dordt College, and has worked as an educator and administrator at Doon Christian School. She and her husband Roger have two daughters, Nicole and Heidi.

Eric Tudor, admissions counselor. He received his B.A. in secondary education from Dordt College where he served as a resident assistant, PLIA and AMOR team leader, and captain of the cross country and the track and field teams.

Greg Youngblood, head football coach. Youngblood earned a B.A. in mathematics from Bates College in Maine, a B.A. in education from the College of Sante Fe at Albuquerque, and an M.S. in sports administration from the University of New Mexico. He has worked as the assistant coach at Taylor University in Indiana and Waldorf College in Iowa where he transitioned to head football coach. He was also head football coach at West Mesa High School in New Mexico. He and his wife Kelly have two sons, Cody and Zachary.

Tammy Zevenbergen, bookstore coordinator. Zevenbergen received her B.A. in elementary education from Dordt College. She has worked as a real estate agent, para-professional for the second grade, and as the T.R.I.P. office assistant in Sioux Center Christian School. She and her husband Dale have four children, Jenna, Kylee, Raya, and Braden.
